The is my last post for the semester! :) I'm not much of a blogger, but I did enjoy posting every week. Since this blog is about music, I thought I'd share some songs that I enjoy listening to.

Daft Punk- "Get Lucky"...Fake or Real?
Daft Punk's first single off Random Access Memories is titled "Get Lucky" and it features Pharrell Williams and Nile Rodgers. Yesterday in the afternoon, soundisstyle.com reported that "Get Lucky" had leaked. However, later on in the day it was reported that the leaked track is fake, yet some people think its real so who knows. Fake or not, I'm going to listen to this track until the single is officially released on Friday. Check out the track below and also check out episode 3 and 4 from The Collaborators series.

The Collaborators
Something I'm really looking forward to in May, is Daft Punk's fourth album, Random Access Memories. To promote the upcoming album, a series of documentary videos named, The Collaborators, was launched in Daft Punk's official website. Episode one features disco producer Giorgio Moroder, and episode two features house producer and singer, Todd Edwards. The concept of the video series is really cool. Fans are able to get an insight on how the collaboration process with each artist was like. Below are episode one, two, and some Daft Punk music. Random Access Memories, is set to be released on May 21.

Queen of Tejano Music
Selena Quintanilla-Perez, known as the queen of tejano music, was tragically murdered
at the age of 23 on March 31, 1995. Yesterday marked the 18th year
anniversary of Selena’s death, yet her music and memory still lives on. I grew
up listening to Selena’s music and I still listen to it to this day. I was four
years old when my parents took me to Selena’s iconic 1995 concert at the
Houston Rodeo. On 2005, I got to go to the Selena VIVE concert which was held
on the 10th year anniversary of Selena’s death. Years
ago I took a trip to Corpus Christi and I got to see her statue and tombstone.
Sadly I wasn't able to see her boutique or museum but I hope to visit them
soon. I’m a fan of Selena, so in honor of her memory I decided to devote this weeks post on her. Below are videos of some of
her hit songs, as well as footage from her last concert.
If you have heard of Selena but don’t know her story, biography.com has some short videos that talk a bit about her life. I also recommend watching the biopic, Selena, which was Jennifer Lopez's breakthrough role.
Facts:
- Selena was the first Tejano artist ever to win a Grammy Award.
- "Ven Conmigo" was the first Tejano album to go Gold
- Selena broke Mariah Carey's sales record. Selena's "Dreaming Of You" sold in one day, what Mariah's CD sold in one week.
- George W. Bush named April 16, 1995 as Selena Day in Texas.
- Selena was in the 1999 Book Of World Records in the category of Most Dominating Musical Artist.

Walking on a Dream
An album I enjoy listening to is, Walking on a Dream by Empire of the Sun. Empire of the Sun is an
electronic music duo from Australia composed of Luke Steele and Nick
Littlemore. The two got together in 2008 and in the same year they released, Walking on a Dream, as their debut
album. Two singles off the album that became hits are, “Walking on a Dream” and “We Are the People.” Below I’ve
posted my favorite songs off the album. The music videos are...interesting.

The 20/20 Experience
Justin Timberlake’s third album, “The 20/20 Experience,” was
finally released today and it’s not a bad album. Jody Rosen of Rolling Stones said, "The 20/20 Experience may test the patience of fans expecting immediate gratification. There are no songs as instantly infectious as 'Like I Love You' or 'SexyBack,' nothing that cuts as deep as 'Cry Me a River' or 'My Love.' But eventually the music sinks its teeth in, even on the wooziest of song." I completely agree with Judy. I’ve never been a huge Timberlake fan,
but I really like his previous album, “FutureSex/LoveSounds,” so I was really looking
forward to this new album. Even though “The 20/20 Experience,” is not exactly
what I was expecting. I have to say the album is not a disappointment.
Some of my favorite songs off the album are:

Electrofunk
Chromeo
Chromeo is an electrofunk duo composed of Dave 1 and P-Thug. The duo released their debut album, She's in Control, in 2004 and their single "Needy Girl" became a club hit. Since then Chromeo has released two additional albums and according to their website they are working on another one. Their music is really fun and worth a listen.

‘King’ George Strait
The Houston Rodeo started this week, and every year the
Rodeo has a pretty good line up of concerts. One of the most anticipated
concerts this year will feature the legendary country music artist, George
Strait. To many, Strait is known as the “King of Country Music” having sold
more than 68.5 million albums in the United States. Check out the videos below
and listen to some good old country music. I’m pretty sure you’ll recognize the
first song.

Take a Listen
Mikky Ekko
Last week I posted a song called "I Love You," by Mikky Ekko. I realized that unless you've listened to Rihanna's new single "Stay", or you happened to watch this years Grammys, the chances of you knowing Mikky's music are very slim. I'll admit I had never heard of Mikky Ekko until I goggled him after the first time I heard "Stay" on the radio. Not only is he a good singer but also a songwriter, and he actually is the one who wrote "Stay". Checkout the videos below and hopefully you become a fan of this up and coming artist.
If you like what you heard, checkout Mikky's website.
